Visit To The Bharat Electronics Limited – as part of ongoing work on the Door Control Unit (DCU) Development Project

The Intellex RAMS Assurance Consulting team had the opportunity to visit the Bharat Electronics Limited – Product Development & Innovation Centre (BEL-PDIC) in Bengaluru as part of our ongoing work on the Door Control Unit (DCU) development project.

BEL-PDIC is currently designing a first-of-its-kind DCU, marking an important step in India’s capability to design and manufacture world-class mobility technologies under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. We are honoured to support BEL on this journey by contributing our RAMS and System Assurance expertise.
BEL-PDIC has involved Intellex and ISA right from the concept design stage. Early engagement has enabled a robust and structured approach to system safety, ensuring key risks are identified and addressed well before the design moves into later phases.

As part of our support, we facilitated a Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) workshop during which several important safety requirements were identified. The session was highly productive due to the transparency and technical clarity demonstrated by the BEL-PDIC design team. Their willingness to thoroughly scrutinise the architecture and candidly discuss challenges enhanced the success of the workshop.

Furthermore, we were impressed by the vast, world-class facilities at BEL-PDIC. The advanced labs, the engineering infrastructure, and the collaborative working environment clearly position the centre as a catalyst for developing cutting-edge technology products.

The DCU development process is backed by state-of-art engineering tools and processes, including DOORS NG for requirements management and V&V, use of LRDB for static analysis to verify MISRA-compliant coding. These all reflect the rigorous safety-critical approach that is being followed.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration with BEL-PDIC and contributing to the development of a reliable, safe, and truly world-class product for India’s mobility sector.
